Homework Submission Guidelines
Gradescope submission
All homeworks will be submitted through Gradescope. You will be able to submit your homeworks multiple times, and we will use the latest submission for grading.
- Put your name and student ID at the top of your submission. The TAs may deduct up to 50% for assignments missing either.
- Submit your assignments as a single PDF to Gradescope.
- Your submission should be organized sequentially using the subsection numbers in the homework assignment. Figures AND relevant code should be placed in the appropriate location in the document.
- Always follow guidelines for Collaboration and Plagiarism.
Formatting Requirements
- Assignments will be graded based on clarity of presentation, in addition to overall correctness. Solutions that are hard to verify may receive deductions.
- We do not accept handwritten assignments in this class. Any mathematical proofs, derivations, or other should be formatted in LaTeX/Markdown inside the notebook. Submissions with any handwritten solutions will have a 20% deduction of the final mark of the entire homework.
- Any coding questions are to be done in Julia and code used to generate the solutions should be in the PDF submission. If possible, make it easy to copy/paste so that we can test your code;
- When uploading to Gradescope, do not forget to link each question to the relevant pages of your submission. We will deduct 10% out of the final mark of the homework if the submission has any solutions that are not correctly linked on Gradescope.
Collaboration
You may work on assignments individually or collaborate with one other person. (Groups larger than two are not allowed). You can have different groups on different assignments. If you work in a group, hand in a single assignment and use Gradescope’s group feature.
Use of External Resources and Tools
Acknowledge all collaborators or sources of assistance in your submission, including generative AI such as ChatGPT. However, all solutions should be written on your own words and code. Failure to follow these guidelines may be considered academic misconduct.
Late submission policy
Assignments are due at 11:50pm on the date specified. Unless otherwise specified, there is no penalty for homework submitted within 2 days of the due date. (Each weekday is one late day; a weekend is one late day). You have a total of 4 late days for the term. There’s no penalty for homework submitted within the late-day window. Homework submitted beyond the due date allowance will not be graded.
Regrade requests
If you believe that an error was made in the grading of your assignment, you may submit a regrade request. Regrade requests must be submitted within 7 days of when the assignment was returned. Regrade requests must be submitted through Gradescope and must clearly state the problem with the grading. Regrade requests that do not meet these criteria will not be considered.
